Rashid Bin Hamed Al-Balushi
Associate Professor of Criminal Law at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman.
He received a BA in law from the University of Alexandria in 1989, a Master of Forensic Sciences from the Police Academy 1999 and a PhD in Criminal Law from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom 2003.
Dr. Rashid Al Balushi began his professional career as a Representative of the Public Prosecution in the Sultanate of Oman, and eventually became the Head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Professional Criminal Investigations, and later on, the Director of Information Management and Analysis of Criminal Investigations.
He began his academic career as an Assistant Professor of Criminal law in the Faculty of Law at Sultan Qaboos University in 2006, and continued on to become the Assistant Dean from 2007 to 2012.
In 2013, Dr. Rashid was appointed as the General Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Oman
At the end of his term, Dr. Rashid rejoined the faculty of Law at Sultan Qaboos University. He is still active in the field of Human Rights and is currently a member of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Dr. Rashid is also a member of alongside many other legal committees in Oman. He has published 4 books, as well as more than 10 studies and researches.
