Aslan Khuseinovich was born on November 18, 1958 in Georgia in the Adjara Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1985 he graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Law of the Peoples' Friendship University of them. Patrice Lumumba, specializing in International Law with honors, at the same time received a diploma of an interpreter from English into Russian.

From 1988 to the present day he has been working at the Department of International Law at the Peoples' Friendship University of them. Patrice Lumumba (now the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia): first as an assistant (1988 - 1992), then as an assistant professor (1992 - 1997), and since 1997 as a professor. By the decision of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation dated May 4, 2000 (No. 146p), he was awarded the academic title of professor of international law. Since 2001, he has been a professor at the Department of International Law at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MGIMO, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Since November 24, 2010 - Acting Head of the Department of International Law of the Law Faculty of the RUDN University, and since May 30, 2011 - Head of the Department of International Law of the RUDN University. In 2016, he was re-elected for a 5-year term.

Practical work of Professor Abashidze as an international lawyer and diplomat is connected with his participation in the work of the UN human rights bodies: from 2001 to 2006. - Assistant Expert of the UN Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights prof. V.A. Kartashkin; from March 2008 to December 2009 - a member of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (Special Procedure of the UN Human Rights Council), and from 2010 to 2014. - ECOSOC members elected Professor A.Kh. Abashidze is a member of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (a UN human rights treaty body). In May 2014, ECOSOC re-elected prof. OH.
