Increasing knowledge of human rights policy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27-28 September, training courses were held on the topic “State policy in the field of protection of human rights and issues of fulfillment of international obligations in this area.” They are organized by the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights together with the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Classes were held for press secretaries and employees of government organizations on public relations and international cooperation. About 80 employees of various ministries, departments and organizations, as well as khokimiyats of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent took part in them.
The main attention was paid to improving the efficiency and quality of information on state policy in the field of protecting human rights and fulfilling international obligations in this area.
The course participants were addressed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov, Director of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Asadzhon Khojaev, Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilorom Fayzieva, Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis Feruza Eshmatova.
The courses are dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. They are organized within the framework of the National Program for Education in the Field of Human Rights in the Republic of Uzbekistan, approved by decree of the President of the country dated February 7, 2023.
Listeners were provided with up-to-date information on such topics as: “International obligations in the field of human rights”, “The role of parliament in ensuring human rights”, “The role of the media in ensuring and protecting human rights”, “Legal basis for the protection of women’s rights: international and national mechanisms."
Among the areas discussed were also “Ensuring the rights of children in Uzbekistan is an important direction of state policy”, “Tasks of the Ombudsman Institute for the protection of human rights”, “On the implementation of the National Program for Education in the Field of Human Rights”, “Issues of ensuring the rights of people with disabilities in Uzbekistan”.
