The Development of Human Rights Protection at the current phase

On November 21, 2018, a roundtable discussion was held on the topic: “The Development of Human Rights Protection at the current phase”. This roundtable discussion was organized by the National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Lawyers’ Training Center under the Ministry of Justice, the Committee on Democratic Institutions, non-governmental organizations and with the representatives of local government and the Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

International experts in the field of human rights Rein Müllerson (Estonia), Marcin Walecki (OSCE), Sima Samar (Afghanistan) delivered speech at the round table discussion.

The event noted the importance and relevance of the adoption of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Program of events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, which provided measures to further improve the mechanisms aimed at ensuring reliable protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as strengthening attention of the state, society and citizens to the values ​​and principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The event discussed topical issues of ensuring human rights at the international level, the specifics of human rights protection mechanisms at the current phase, the development of human rights institutions in Uzbekistan and the role of public organizations in the protection of human rights.

The event was attended by employees of the National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, teachers and trainees of the Lawyers’ Training Center.
