the "Master classes on education in the field of human rights"

On the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, one of the important innovations of the Global Forum on the topic "Education in the field of human rights", which began its work in the city of Samarkand on December 5, 2022, was the "Master classes on education in the field of human rights" within the framework of the Global Forum. It was organized at the Samarkand State University on the second day of the Global Forum.

The master classes were held by the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academician Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the Samarkand State University, Rustam Kholmurodov, a scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, opened the event. Special attention was paid to the fact that these online master classes are held for the first time in our country.

The goal of the educational conference within the international conference is to create the ability to organize model lessons on human rights for teachers and students of Uzbekistan's higher education institutions. In order to develop the knowledge and skills of the representatives of the educational institutions of our country on human rights, to inform them about the solutions of the current problems in the field of human rights on a scientific and educational basis, it is important to conduct unique advanced lessons in the direction of educating the culture of human rights.

Master-classes were conducted offline and online based on advanced foreign experiences based on the requirements of the times. Interesting lectures and debates with distinguished professors invited from various universities of the world, in turn, created a comfortable space for lively dialogue and practical question-and-answer sessions.

Elena Ippoliti, coordinator of the Human Rights Education and Training Department of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, researcher at Tallinn University (Estonia), member of the International Institute of Law, Professor Raine Mullerson, member of the UN Committee against Torture, professor Bakhtiyor Tuzmuhamedov, member of the UN Committee against Torture, Lectures presented by American University Washington College of Law professor Diego Rodriguez-Pinson, Head of the Innovation and Development Department of the Council of Europe Sergey Dikman, Council of Europe Counselor Eva Massa did not leave the audience indifferent.

The speakers elaborated on their many years of experience in the field of human rights. They focused on law enforcement skills, creative and innovative approaches in the field, and best practices in human rights education at the international, regional, and national levels.

In particular, it was recognized that the principles and values of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights serve the interests of people, society and the state. There was a comprehensive exchange of views on ensuring the reliable protection of human rights and freedoms in the field of education, as well as improving the effectiveness of mechanisms and procedures for the full implementation of international standards in the field of legislation and the practical activities of state bodies.

More than 6500 professors and teachers from more than 20 higher education and scientific-research institutions operating in all regions of the country, undergraduate and graduate students, and young scientists engaged in scientific activity participated in the master classes. Also, students of 14 legal colleges of the Ministry of Justice actively participated in the educational-legal event.
