Universal Declaration of Human Rights and youth rights in the field of human rights
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights around the world. In this sense, the approval by the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan on May 5, 2018 “The program of events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, on September 26, 2018 a round table on the theme “Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Youth Rights in the Field of Human Rights” and the presentation of the book “70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights” was held.This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights around the world. In this sense, the approval by the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan on May 5, 2018 “The program of events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, on September 26, 2018 a round table on the theme “Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Youth Rights in the Field of Human Rights” and the presentation of the book “70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights” was held.
Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan, The Central Council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, representatives of the Ministry of Justice and the Republican Training Center, students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and Tashkent State University of Law attended the event.
The event was opened by the Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on democratic institutions, NGOs and civil self-government institutes, Director of the National Human Rights Center A. Saidov, as well as Chairman of the Committee on Youth Affairs at the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Deputy of Legislative Chamber K. Tozhiev.
Chairman of the Youth Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan I. Khodzhiev made a presentation on the theme of “The cornerstone of human rights and freedoms: the history of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its significance”.
The main point of the presentation was to help young people improve their understanding of the basic rights of young people, strengthen the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in national legislation and make young people widely aware of law enforcement.
During the round table and presentation, there was also lively debate and discussions. Professor Akmal Saidov stressed the following about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
• The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is one of the first international legal documents signed by Uzbekistan after its adoption;
• All major norms of this Declaration are reflected in the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
• Since its adoption in 1948, the Declaration has been translated into more than 500 languages, becoming the most translatable document in the world, thus being a reference point for the constitutions of many new independent states and many young democracies.
As part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the publication of this book in Uzbek-Latin and Cyrillic, Karakalpak and Russian, aroused the interest of the participants and was presented to the participants.
