Uzbekistan and Turkey establish close cooperation on human rights education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the Turkish Institute for Human Rights and Equality signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The signing took place as part of a round table on the topic “Human rights education: the experience of Uzbekistan and Turkey”, organized in Tashkent, during a visit of a delegation of the Republic of Turkey headed by the chairman of the Turkish Institute for Human Rights and equality by Muharrem Kilich to the Republic of Uzbekistan on 6-10 June.

The round table became an opportunity for a thorough exchange of experience between the two countries in the field of human rights education.

First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov, and Chairman of the Turkish Institute for Human Rights and Equality Muharrem Kilich addressed the participants of the event with greetings.

During the round table, Harun Mertoglu, a member of the Council of the Turkish Institute for Human Rights and Equality, made a presentation on the topic: “Human Rights Institutions under the Paris Principles”, during which he spoke about the activities of human rights institutions in the Republic of Turkey and about human rights education.

From the Uzbek side at the event, reports were made by the First Deputy Director of the National Center for Human Rights Mirzatilla Tillabaev, Deputy Head of the Academy of the Prosecutor General's Office Muzaffar Mamasidikov and Professor of the Tashkent State Law University Gavkhar Yuldasheva.

Participants were also provided with information about the National Human Rights Education Program being developed.

Members of Parliament, representatives of national human rights institutions, higher legal educational institutions and academic institutions took part in the work of the "round table".
